Senior Renewable and Energy Efficiency Consultant - Market Intelligence

Within 3E’s Consultancy Business Unit Grids & Markets, you acquire, manage and/or contribute significantly to projects involving advice to regulatory agencies, government departments, international institutions and the private sector on sustainable energy issues. You focus on the policy aspects of the electricity markets. You can rely on your technical and/or economical background as input to formulating policy recommendations and presenting the results to stakeholders in Belgium, Europe and Africa.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Techno-economic analysis and modelling for providing policy recommendations, advice on electricity markets and innovation strategies. Knowledge on flexibility markets and ancillary services is an asset.
  • Following up on Belgian and European developments related to energy markets and infrastructure projects.
  • Techno-economic analysis of renewable and hybrid energy systems and policy and strategy studies for governments and investors in Africa. Experience in African projects is an asset.
  • Full cycle policy studies, from research and data analysis, over preparing or assessing policies, to making policy and strategic recommendations on renewable energy and/or energy efficiency
  • Business development in your field of expertise, including following up on existing leads, generating your own, preparing project proposals and price/scope negotiations.
  • Building, enhancing and maintaining a relevant network with active outreach to governmental and non-governmental key players


  • Master degree in engineering science, business engineering, economics or similar through experience
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience, ideally within the sustainable energy sector, including a relevant established network
  • Multidisciplinary interest and the ability to link disciplines (energy, policy, economics, technology)


  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities, able to function autonomously as well as within a team
  • Ability to identify key issues, assess their implications and communicate complex subjects in readily understandable terms
  • Able to work in a transversal team, across several departments
  • Creative and innovative mind-set
  • Demonstrated ability to network and tie strong links with policy makers
  • Analytical and focussed with strong communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Fluent in English, Dutch and French. Additional languages is an asset
