What you will be doing

3E’s Consultancy Business Unit is looking for a technical grid expert consultant to reinforce our team working on engineering services and technical advisory in the renewable power sector. Reporting to the head of the Owner’s Engineering department, you will act as a project manager on projects involving grid integration of renewable energy for different power sector stakeholders (project developers, network operators, public institutions, ..). You can work from our office in Brussels, Toulouse, Paris or Barcelona, depending on where you are based.

You will be working together with several other technical experts specialised in different fields such as PV plants, windfarms, storage facilities, power systems and grids. Your work will involve strong interaction between the different experts, our clients and other stakeholders. Your main tasks will be related to Due Diligence processes and engineering phases at different stages of project development. It will combine practical electrical power engineering, applied research and strategic advisory as follows:

  • Engineering services for smart grids and energy storage management
  • Conduct technical studies (diagnostics, data analysis, dimensioning of off-grid power systems)
  • Advise on grid integration feasibility of renewable energy projects based on modelling and simulation of power systems including load flow studies
  • Deploy smart grid concepts and innovative control strategies for efficient integration of renewable energy
  • Manage projects including end-to-end project administration: planning, realisation, coordination, cost control as well as relationships with clients, partners and suppliers

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone with a deep technical knowledge on grid integration and integrations studies with an analytical and critical mindset to help us deliver accurate grid impact studies and valuable advice to our customer. We need an outgoing personality with strong communication skills to interact efficiently with our different experts involved in a multi-cultural environment. Someone who is quality driven and willing to broaden his/her horizon with non-standard assignments.

Of course, there are some non-negotiables:

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • You bring 3-5 years of relevant work experience to the table, ideally with a DSO/TSO or in power system consultancy or related. Having experience in projects located in African countries is a plus
  • You are a proficient user of DigSilent and PowerFactory software
  • You have experience with renewable energy projects, energy storage and smart grids
  • You fluently speak, read and write French and English

  • Strong organisational capabilities, able to function autonomously as well as within a team
  • Ability to identify key issues, assess their implications and communicate complex subjects in readily understandable terms
  • Creative and innovative mind-set
  • Analytical and focussed with strong communication skills, both oral and in writing

  • Other languages: Spanish
  • Having already built up a network in the industry

Our interview process will consist of following steps: (full process if every step is succesful)

  • A first, short call (10 min) to discuss your profile and some bullet points

  • A first HR interview to go over your experience, motivation, the job content, salary, any questions,...
  • A second, more technical interview with the team manager(s)
  • A third round with department management

  • Discussion of the offer with HR

The interviews can take place in the office or virtually, depending on your own preference.
